You're either gonna hate me, or totally understand what i mean with my following thought of the day.
It's like Marmite, you either totally understand the fascination, grasp this latest trend; or like me, you step back and think, how freaking ugly. As was with my utter discomfort of wet-look leggings, my latest dislike is two particular jewellery brands. Both Links of London and Pandora bracelets somewhat horrify me, in terms that I think they are over-priced mess of uglyness and that people flock towards them. They aren't classic, delicate or even making a statement. I genuinely think they are just fug.
The Pandora bracelets are the ugly-step-sister of the charm bracelet, even a little creepy looking. And the fact that you can only really afford a few proper charms to fill it, leaves it rather sad looking.
The Links of London friend-ship bracelets look slightly weird too, i mean - i'm not going to lie, they look like a souvenir from a holiday flea market, not a high-end jewelers? I just find them ODD.
What can i say? They just baffle me - i just don't get the hype. After asking on Twitter whether i was the only one who thought this, the general consensus was, that other people thought the same too. These are my personal thoughts and taste, but i apologise sincerely, if you do own one of these bracelets, however don't get your kickers in a twist ;)

I quite like the Links of London but not in that colour, but I know I would never wear it, jewellery for me is a bit like decoration, and anything more than stud earrings, and a ring makes me feel like a Christmas tree, again just a personal opinion, like jewellery on others, hate it on myself. Thanks for the interesting thought. Jan
ReplyDeleteI own a kinda light brown leather pandora bracelet with some of the cuter charms (like a little suitcase and stuff, not the big bling bling ones) which was bought for me as a gift. I also have a friendship bracelet and the threading on it is cream. Wouldnt have been something I bought for myself, EVER. But, it was my 21st so theyre special to me and have actually really grown on me :p I do get what you mean tho! xx
ReplyDeleteI was never interested in charm bracelets until my boyfriend bought me one (not any of these brands, just a silver one from a local jewellers) and I love mine. But probably more for the fact that it was a present from my boyfriend and each charm on it was bought for a different reason. I did however have to state that I only wanted silver charms for it and I didn't want the whole bracelet filled... at the moment I have four charms and I like it looking a bit minimal.
ReplyDeleteI had a quick look at Links of London when I was looking for a birthday present for someone and totally loved the ones that are made with some sort of leather cord (like the friendship one you have pictured but far more basic) but they were soooo expensive - deffo paying for the brand and not the product in that case. It's something I could knock up myself for a fiver!
I actually have a Pandora bracelet but I have a black leather plaited one with a silver clasp and only get silver charms for it and I think that looks fine. But I completely get where you're coming from about the ones you pictured, I think they look ridiculous and cluttered. x
ReplyDeleteI hate them both too, they're not special if a million other people have the same thing too! My Mum actually bought me a Links bracelet with a charm for my bday a few years ago but I took it back for a refund and bought some Uggs instead!
ReplyDeleteoh crap, best return your birthday present then ;)

THANKYOU! I strongly dislike Pandora too.I just think they're ugly ass! Links aren't as bad. You can just see some chavvy kid being called Pandora before long :L There's nothing special about them, they're just overpriced tat.

P.S I think you should whack out your dunks! Who needs an excuse to wear them?
